Module 1 – Form Your Club 
The following steps should be completed by October 13th, 2017

Step 1) Recruit up to 25 students to join your club this year

Step 2) Host your first Club meeting & Complete Leadership Activity 

Step 3) Choose student leaders for your club.  Many clubs elect a president, vice president, treasurer, and/or social media director.  Titles/responsibilities will depend on the interests of your club.  This reinforces the leadership values of commitment and accountability.

Step 4) Email your club’s roster to your Education Representative. 


Module  2 – Kick-Off Webinar                    
To be completed by October 27th, 2017

Unyts staff will introduce you and your club members to our organization and the Donate Life Club Program for the 2017-2018 school year.   The webinar will introduce the concept of leadership and inspire a shared vision for the year’s work.

Module 3 – Plan Your Donate Life Club Calendar of Events
The following steps should be completed by November 3rd, 2017

Step 1) Host a club meeting where student leaders facilitate the completion of the Donate Life Club Calendar of Events Template. This provides an opportunity to exercise decision making skills and practice planning and organization.  Flexibility and communication with your Unyts representatives will be key as changes may occur throughout the year.

Step 2) Submit your Calendar of Events to your Education Representative via email.  This will be your club’s work plan for the rest of the year.

Step 3) Notify your Account Executive of your preferred date(s) for blood drive(s).  *Clubs are required to sponsor at least one Unyts blood drive.


Module 4 – Field Trip to Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus, Unyts Headquarters,  or Watch a Virtual Tour of Unyts

 To be completed by January 31st, 2018

This year students will have the opportunity to visit the Buffalo Niagara Medical Campus or Unyts headquarters to learn about Unyts and the amazing medical advances happening right here in Buffalo!   The field trip will include activities to enhance self-awareness and team work.
To select a tour date, please contact your Education Representative.

b) Watch an updated virtual tour Let your education representative know when you plan to host a meeting and watch the virtual tour so they can attend and address questions.


‚ÄčAli’s Rally & Donate Life Club Mid-Year Celebration!

Save the Date: Saturday, March 24, 2018

The Alison Gerlach Memorial Foundation will be hosting the Donate Life Club Celebration at Transit Bowling Lanes (7850 Transit Road Williamsville NY 14221). This mid-year celebration will offer students the opportunity to be recognized for their efforts and also allow them the opportunity to obtain new ideas to bring back to their schools. Scholarships and awards will be given. Collaboration among students is encouraged to demonstrate strong leadership skills.

You and your club members are invited to attend this event for free! All we ask is that each school creates a collage of what you have done to help bring awareness about donation to your school community. You can include photos of your current or past awareness campaigns, blue and green day, random act of kindness or anything else you want to highlight. On the collage, please include your school’s name and a paragraph or two about what you have done, or plan to do as a Donate Life Club. We will showcase these collages at the event for all to see!

Module  5 –April is Donate Life Month and we need your help to get the word out.
To be completed by April 27th  2018

Participate in Blue & Green Day Competition:

a) Get creative! Encourage your school community to wear blue and green to help bring awareness about organ, eye, and tissue donation. Take a photo and post on social media and tag Unyts OR send photo to your education rep.


b) Share a picture with your education representative of a poster, bulletin board, info table etc promoting blue and green day and Donate Life Month.  

Participation is a way to lead by example. 
Prizes will be awarded for creativity and teamwork.  

Module 6 – Random Act of Kindness              
The following steps should be completed by May 18th, 2018

Step 1) Students plan an activity or action which will have a positive impact on their families, school, or community.  The acts may be done by individual students, small groups, or the entire club.  Activity ideas here. To help in the planning process, student leaders may use the Random Act of Kindness Plan.Here is an opportunity to be community-minded, practice problem solving, and take initiative.

Step 2) Email your Education Representative a completed Random Act of Kindness Report Form by May 18, 2018.


Raise the Bar:  WNY Leaders of Tomorrow event for select student leaders
We will be hosting our 2nd Annual Raise the Bar event in May, 2018. This leadership summit is for Sophomore and Junior students who have participated in Donate Life Club sponsored events at your school. Attendees will be given tools to continue developing the skills needed to be a successful leader in high school and beyond.

Please identify one or two students who will benefit from this great opportunity. Nominations can be submitted anytime, before April 6, 2018.

Module 7 – Awareness Campaign                 
The following steps should be completed by June 15th, 2018

Step 1) Dedicate one of your club meetings to a brainstorming session to plan your week-long awareness campaign.  This can be led by an advisor, student leader, or Unyts education staff. The purpose of this module is to identify what week you want to run your awareness campaign, outline what you will do each day, and discuss which club member(s) will be responsible for each activity.  This activity integrates all of the leadership skills we have been practicing throughout the year. Step 2) Submit Awareness Campaign Planning Form
Get creative and educate your school community about organ, eye, tissue and blood donation. Many schools choose to run their campaign week the week prior, or the week of, their blood drive but this is not mandatory so get innovative and run it when it will make the most impact for your school. Please contact your Education Representative, to request the planning form.

Step 3) Run your campaign!

Step 4) Post/ share ideas, exact dates and photos with your Education Representative via e-mail.  This is a great opportunity to strengthen communication skills.


Module 8 – Blood Drive                                          
The following steps should  be completed by June 15th 2018

Step 1) Communicate with Unyts staff. Your Education Representative and Account Executive will work hand in hand to provide you with all the resources you need to schedule and run a successful drive.

Step 2) Create a Plan! Your club will be responsible for all aspects of the blood drive including planning, recruitment, pre-drive education, and day-of drive assistance.

Step 3) Complete Blood Drive Boot Camp at least 2 weeks prior to your scheduled blood drive.



Return Supply Check Receipts:
Copies of receipts equal to the amount of your supply check and reimbursement of any remaining funds are due by June 29, 2018.  They can be mailed to Unyts Attn:  Maureen Maclefko or e-mailed to  Checks can be made out to Unyts.
