I know what you are thinking, is it possible to eat healthy at a place where just about everything is either deep-fried or covered in chocolate? Going to the fair doesn’t always have to be an unhealthy trip, we want everyone who enjoys going to the fair to recognize the healthy options.
Instead of eating a grand champion burger which contains 1,000 calories, go for a bison burrito that has only 300 calories. Other healthier fair options are gyros (average 230 calories), a Cuban sandwich (460 calories) or a pork loin sandwich (290 calories). To grab a quick snack, you don’t need to get a corn dog or French fries, but instead a baked potato, grilled corn or a pickle. To wash everything down, avoid high sugar soda and reach for a water bottle.
Another great choice to stay healthy at the fair while not spending a fortune, bring your own grub and have a picnic. Pack some fruits, vegetables and other healthy foods to chow down. The perfect place to do so is at Slade Park by the Channel 7 stand. Enjoy a lovely day at your Erie County Fair.
